I’m endlessly fascinated with the fact that the stories we encounter, and how we tell them to ourselves, change what we believe and create. That they are not just descriptions or containers of meaning but our very identity, our blueprint for who we can become.

Painting for me is a practice of gratitude and an emphasis of this exploration of identity and possibility. In the experience of painting a subject, I seek an encounter and an openness in the process that allows space for continued looking and imagining. 

My work grows out of a humanities degree, a painter’s way of paying close attention, and thirty years in strategic communications. That includes serving as spokesperson for Three Mile Island nuclear generating station and founding an independent business-to-business PR firm that I led for 20 years. I’ve dedicated much of my life to helping people and organizations (and myself) understand the stories we tell. And somewhere in there, my way with words got me named one of  “Twitter’s Top 75 Badass Women,” which still makes me smile.

My consulting work, through short-term engagements, helps leaders clarify the current story of their organization, the one it is growing toward, and the language that can guide communication.

Across all of it, I am just trying to pay closer attention to what is possible.
